It isn’t easy to understand how otherwise raw materials can become something so extraordinary. Chemistry fuses with art at the end of an oxygen/propane torch where incredibly high temperatures of 2500 degrees Fahrenheit provide the right conditions for Kimberley to ‘work her glassblowing magic’.
It’s a fleeting moment during which the glassblower skillfully morphs the glass from solid to liquid before it returns to its original state - now wholly transformed into stunningly sculpted, 3-D, forms.
Kimberleys glassblowing artistry is rooted in a nod to the past, much like the efforts of alchemists who sought to create the precious from the ordinary through chemical transformation, using their skills to heal and bring wellbeing to others.
Then there is the wisdom of our forbearers who teaches us the importance of deep connections to love and respecr of one another (past and present) and our natural environment.
